Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Relay

This year for Thanksgiving my family gathered at my brother Scott's house in Memphis. A highlight of the festivities was a 4 mile Turkey Trot relay a bunch of us ran in at 9am Thanksgiving morning. The family members not running came along to cheer us on, a wonderful time was had by all. The race was held at Shelby Farm, which is a fun and beautiful place!

And the runners are off!

Run!

There were a LOT of racers! It didn't thin out after the start like most races, there were so many people it was a constant dodging game to keep from running over or tripping someone.

Dad waited at the finish line and caught a few of the 2nd leggers finishing.
Here is Scott - good job!

Great job Mark!

William was there to cheer us on!

And so was David!

After the race, before loading up the cars to return to Scott and Jenny's, we all had a snack break on the ground in the parking area.

Here Jeff and I are posing with one of the relay batons - a frozen turkey leg!

The racers - Team Mark and Mindy, Team Sarah and Jeff, and Team Kibbie and Scott

We were really excited to have Jeff's sister Sarah join us for Thanksgiving with my family.

My favorite running t-shirt :-P

A beautiful picture my dad took of one of the ponds at Shelby Farm. They also have horses (much to my niece Vanessa's delight), buffalo, and plenty of ducks and geese.

5k

Robin and I have been running 3 mornings a week the past two months, and decided it was time for a 5k. It was Robin's first ever race, and she did great! Our goal was to not worry about time, and just finish. And finish we did! Good job Robin!

Here we are right before the start of the race. Brrr, I was freezing!
Here we are at the half way point.

Jeff and Raegen having fun during the race!

Almost finished!

Finish line is in sight!

Our cheering section - thanks guys!
