The Flood

Arkansas had a lot of bad weather lately - tornadoes, wind, hail, and LOTS of rain.

Our road flooded  - I heard that was the first time it had ever flooded.  Looked to be about 3 feet of water on the road.  Jeff could still go through in his truck, but we didn't take my car through until ALL THE WATER WAS OFF THE ROAD!  I kept hearing them say on the radio, "Turn around, don't drown!"

This house isn't far from us!

This one is close to us too!

This is our neighbors shed - right across the street from their house!  Just to compare, here is a picture of my parents taken in front of that same shed in November.

Looks like the water would have been up to my mom's nose!

My parent's were actually here visiting when it flooded.  We came home after church Sunday night and commented on how close to the road the water was.  Dad even asked if we thought it would come over the road, to which we replied, "No way!"  We woke up Monday morning, Mom and Dad packed up their van, and .... uh oh, road was DEFINITELY covered!  We were excited at first, thinking we might get to keep them a few days, but they really needed to get home to KY so Dad could work and Mom could teach a class.  So Jeff drove them through in his truck and they rented a car to drive home.  Mom returned the rental the next weekend and picked up their van.  But she had to take a detour to get here because I-40 was closed due to flooding too!

Aunt Sarah's Visit

Aunt Sarah came to visit us and we had so much fun!!!  We love Aunt Sarah!!!  Thank you for coming to visit us!

Jeff and Sarah

Aunt Sarah read Jonathan lots of books!

Kellen loved meeting her Aunt Sarah!  And she loves the cute outfit Aunt Sarah brought her too!

Jonathan

Some miscellaneous pictures of what our little guy has been up to lately.

J looking sooo cute for church one Sunday!

This is Daddy's type of humor - torturing J. with a shower cap!  Love the look on J's face!

Jonathan wants to do everything I do!  And if I am busy cooking, cleaning, etc. and he can't help, then he wants to be held.  And if I can't hold him, he has taken to standing on my feet and pulling on my pants.  So I decided to pull out the Ergo again - and he still loves it!  I hadn't worn him in it for a few months, but it is still as comfortable as ever for both me and J!  I can't wait until K is big enough to go in it!

Daddy let me play in the rain...

and I loved it!

How To Eat a Muffin - by Jonathan Ogan
1. Open mouth
2. Insert muffin

Gramma and Grampa Vickers came to visit and Mommy didn't take any pictures of them with the kids :-(  While they were here Gramma taught J how to feed himself with a spoon.  Boy does he think he's a big boy now!

These big trucks stopped right outside our house to trim tree branches!

Jonthan loved drinking Gramma's ice water and eating her Sonic ice!

Grampa and Gramma gave J this fun truck and it was love at first sight!  You can build blocks on it, ride it, dump things, and it makes noise!  Thank you Grampa and Gramma!

3 Months Old

 Kellen Rebekah
You are now 3 months old!  Time is passing quickly and you are growing and changing every day.  You continue to be a very sweet and delightful baby, full of joy!

Purple is definitely one of your best colors!

You are very strong and I think you will sit up early.

Such a happy baby!

You are definitely a thumb sucker!

You have the cutest curly mohawk!
You have big blue eyes and really look like Daddy's side of the family.  I think you are still really favoring your Gramma Karen.

Looks like you are going to have some shade of red hair!

You love your Daddy, and Daddy loves you!

You are a petite little thing.  I am guessing you will stay that way...

because...

you...

never...

stop...

moving!

You are very squirmy and move all day and night.  I never find you in the crib the way I lay I down - you are usually sideways with your head against the rails or your arms or legs sticking out between rails.

YOU
* Weighed 11 lbs at 11 1/2 weeks old.
 * Are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes and size 1-2 diapers.
* Smile and coo a lot
* Suck your thumb any time we lay you down on your tummy.  I have caught you sucking it a few times when you are upright, but I don't think you have figured out how to consistently get your thumb in your mouth when you aren't laying down. You chew on your hands alot too.
* Are starting to grab toys in your hands
* Are a really good sleeper most of the time.  You typically go to bed between 8-9, wake sometime between 2-6 to eat, and then back to sleep until 8ish.   I just started giving you a feeding before I go to bed about 10:30ish, and last night you slept from then until 8:30 this morning = happy Mommy!  You nap good too - I lay you in your crib, you find your thumb, rarely fuss much, and go right to sleep.  You take a nap in the morning, a long nap in the afternoon, and another nap in the evening.
*Still have quite a bit of hair, but have the funniest bald ring about half way down the back of your head.

Easter 2011

We have a great play group in town that we attend every now and then.  They had an easter egg hunt that we thought Jonathan would enjoy.  It was his first egg hunt and he did enjoy it!

Jonathan thought the eggs were balls and kept pointing and saying, "Ball, ball!"

Lining up to start.  Jeff was trying to explain to Jonathan that he was supposed to run pick up eggs and put them in his basket.

It took him a while to figure things out, but he finally caught on.  They asked the parents not to pick up eggs for the kids, and Jeff did a great job of patiently explaining to Jonathan what he was supposed to be doing.  I am glad he was out there with him instead of me - I tend to be a tad bit competitive :-)

Jonathan thought the kid's Tonka Truck basket was really neat!

Look at my eggs!

I love his face in this picture!

Easter Sunday, ready to go to church to celebrate what Easter is really about - Christ's resurrection!

Sporting his new sunglasses!

Confession time - I totally didn't get a picture of Kellen in her cute dress on Easter.  But I did put it back on her a few days later for a picture.  Only problem, she spit up on it on Easter, so I washed it before this picture and DIDN'T iron it :-)  Please forgive our wrinkled collar.

"Up from the grave He arose; with a mighty triumph o'er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever, with His saints to reign.  He arose!  He arose!  Hallelujah!  Christ arose!"

Besties!

Last month some of my bestest (yes, I do realize that's not a real word) friends came to visit.  I have known these sisters since before I can remember!  Rebekah and I go wayyyyy back - we have known each other for 27 years!  She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and Kellen Rebekah is her namesake.  And I have known Jessica since she was born :-)

My kiddos loved playing with them!

Kellen loved meeting and playing with Jessica :-)

Kellen Rebekah and Rebekah.  I was so excited that Kellen got to meet Rebekah before she heads overseas.  Rebekah is leaving in June for Swaziland Africa, to work as a nurse.  And I am glad I got to see her before she left too!!!!!

They took some cute pictures of my little guy too!  (Rebekah, I stole a lot of these pics from your FB - thanks!)

Isn't it disgusting that the guys always get those long pretty eyelashes!

Jonathan thought their car was really cool, and probably would have gone on the rest of their roadtrip with them if Mommy would have let him.

And he really liked that they let him play with their cell phones!

Thank you sooooo much for coming to see us ladies!  We love you!
